Amazon has released the first full-length trailer for its superhero comedy series, The Tick, premiering Friday, Aug. 25. Earlier this year Amazon released a short teaser reminding us all that The Tick is not your average superhero series. The trailer shows a mix of Seinfeld’s neurotic comedy and Deadpool’s flippant take on the genre, introducing this blue-suited hero to unfamiliar audiences.
The series is created by Bill Edlund, who wrote the original comic book series, created the animated televised series that ran for two years in the ‘90s and created the unsuccessful 2001 live-action series. The plot has changed slightly over the decades, and while the trailer mainly follows the “strange blue superhero,” the series will focus on “an accountant with zero powers [who] comes to realize his city is owned by a super villain.” Griffin Newman plays Arthur, the paranoid accountant and eventual sidekick to the Tick, who is played by Peter Serafinowicz (Guardians of the Galaxy). Valerie Curry (The Following) will play Arthur’s sister Dot.
You can watch the trailer above, which we guarantee will make you cock your head to one side. It’s still unclear whether The Tick is “the hero [we’ve] been waiting for,” but we’ll find out come August.
