Netflix’s The Witcher Series Officially Wraps Production

It’s official: The Netflix show based on popular fantasy series-turned-videogame phenomenon, The Witcher, has finally wrapped production.

The show, which is set to hit the streaming service at the end of this year, will follow the adventures of Geralt of Rivia, played by none other than Henry Cavill of Superman fame. In fact, this news was confirmed by the actor himself in a heartfelt Instagram post on Thursday:

The showrunner for The Witcher series, Lauren S. Hissrich, also confirmed the end of production on season one via Twitter:

A teaser for the show debuted last October, with little else surfacing besides some set photos here and there, leaving fans to speculate what the show will end up ultimately being.

Also starring alongside Cavill in The Witcher series is Freya Allan (Into the Badlands) as Geralt’s adopted daughter Ciri, and Anya Chalotra (Wanderlust) as the powerful sorceress Yennefer.

The Netflix show will run eight episodes, and is adapted from the original Witcher novels by Andrzej Sapkowski (who also served as a consultant on the show).
