J.K. Simmons Joins Hulu’s Veronica Mars Revival

Academy Award winner J.K. Simmons has signed on for a recurring role in Hulu’s forthcoming Veronica Mars revival, per Deadline.

Simmons will play Clyde Prickett, an ex-con who now works as a fixer for Richard “Big Dick” Casablancas Sr. (David Starzyk), the richest real estate developer in Neptune, Calif. Clyde served 10 years for racketeering and was smart enough to be the first guy in Chino to offer his protection to Big Dick on his first day in prison.

The revival follows private investigator Veronica Mars (Kristen Bell) after Mars Investigations is hired to investigate as a string of spring breakers are being murdered in her hometown of Neptune. The epic mystery pits the town’s wealthy elites against its working-class residents, who rely on the cash influx of tourists coming in for spring break.

Starzyk is reprising his role from the original series as Richard “Big Dick” Casablancas Sr., the father of Veronica’s long-time frenemy, Dick, as whom Ryan Hansen will also reprise his role for Hulu’s forthcoming Veronica Mars revival.

Simmons also stars in Starz’s Counterpart, which returns for its second season next month, and can also be seen in his Juno director Jason Reitman’s political biopic The Front Runner, which is currently out in theaters in limited release.

Production on the Veronica Mars revival is currently underway in Los Angeles. You can keep up with the latest updates on the series here.
