By now, you're probably aware of the story behind Tennis' Cape Dory album: the husband-and-wife duo of Alaina Moore and Patrick Riley sold their possessions, bought a boat, sailed the Eastern Seaboard and wrote a record to chronicle their adventures when they returned. Their Patrick Carney-produced follow-up, Young & Old, is out today, and while it may not have been inspired by a voyage at sea, it does deal with the ongoing journey of marriage. read more

In the midst of all the indie "beach pop" bands emerging in 2010 and 2011, the unassuming boy-girl duo that is Tennis felt like a great light-hearted break from all the melancholy of bands like Real Estate and Beach House. The majority of songs on the band's debut album were all under three-minutes -- each tributes to stops on the couple's journey seaboard adventure. Something about their bizarre origin story and the leisurely sailing songs just clicked. read more
