Tennis System Share Video For “C L E A R E R”; New EP Out On Record Store Day
photo by Anthony TranThe ever-delightful post-punk outfit Tennis System is set to release P A I N, a brand-new EP of material on Record Store Day (April 21st) via Graveface Records, and to hype the heck out of that fresh collection, they are sharing with us the premiere of a new video for the track “C L E A R E R.”
A fantastic cut with one of the best Peter Hook-inspired basslines around, the driving tune is accompanied by a video (directed by Logan Rice) that could be read as a horror homage or just a visual representation of how depression or anxiety can make us feel like aliens in even the most normal of circumstances. At least that’s my interpretation. Front man Matty T. had this to say about the clip:
Logan Rice and I came up with the concept for the C L E A R E R, a song that questions why, in our modern age, no one seems true to themselves. The girl in the video represents us, somewhat alienated, jaded, but the same in each scenario she finds herself in. That’s what makes her so compelling, so strange to watch. She can only be herself, and that a metaphor for the band, too. Tennis System is its own thing. We stay in our own lane. Our own box.
