There aren’t a lot of movies, especially recent ones, that a grown man can feel comfortable calling “kick-ass” (apart from the film of that name from last year). The Dark Knight movies come to mind. This year’s Sundance breakout Bellflower is another. And Hesher definitely belongs in that pantheon. Joseph Gordon-Levitt has come a long way since ’90s favorites Angels in the Outfield and 10 Things I Hate About You, and he proves it in Hesher, a film that premiered last Friday at Sundance. Paste editor-in-chief Josh Jackson raved via e-mail, “Gordon-Levitt is unbelievably good.
