Amazon Prime Video’s Lord of the Rings TV series, like J.R.R. Tolkien before it, is starting with a map.

We’ve heard next to nothing about the much-anticipated adaptation since its initial announcement in November 2017, after which reports indicated the project’s unprecedented scope, but the Prime Video show’s Twitter account has begun dispensing breadcrumbs as of this week, beginning with a Wednesday tweet featuring a choice Tolkien quote about the epic fantasy series’ genesis:

The account followed that initial tease with the (unmarked) map itself, shared Friday, revealing that the series, set prior to The Fellowship of the Ring, does indeed take place in Middle-earth:

Fans have already begun to pore over the map in search of any telling details—for instance, one fan found that the “map shows Middle-Earth post-war of wrath since Beleriand isn’t on it, meaning the show takes place in the second of [sic] third age,” as Deadline reports.

Their report also notes that Amazon Studios head Jennifer Salke said at the Television Critics Association winter press tour that there is “no timetable” for the series’ launch, though she did reveal its social media handles and say producers are “making great progress.” Salke has said previously that the series likely won’t launch until 2021.
