Here’s the Cast for Netflix and Jeremy Saulnier’s Hold the Dark

It’s only been about a month since we learned of the forthcoming team-up between Netflix and the blood-spilling auteur Jeremy Saulnier (Green Room, Blue Ruin, Murder Party) in the form of Hold the Dark, and we’ve already got word on a sizable chunk of the casting.

Adapted from a novel by William Giraldi, the story centers around a wolf-expert biologist who has been called into the Alaskan wilderness to help locate a boy taken and killed by a pack of wolves. Jeffrey Wright (Westworld, the Hunger Games films) will star as the biologist, while Alexander Skarsgard (The Legend of Tarzan, True Blood) stars as the boy’s over-the-edge veteran father who just returned from a tour in Iraq. James Badge Dale (13 Hours, The Pacific) will play a detective pursuing the violent father while Riley Keough (American Honey, Mad Max: Fury Road) will play the boy’s mother. Dunkirk’s James Bloor is also said to be cast as a “creepy drifter.”

Scripted by Blue Ruin star and I Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore director Macon Blair, Hold the Dark is to begin filming in Alberta, Canada, at the end of this month. While there’s no exact date set for the film’s release, it’s currently targeted to hit Netflix sometime next year. Be sure to stay tuned to Paste for more news on the sure-to-be violent thriller as it comes out.
