Arcade Fire’s Win Butler and Regine Chassagne Release Theme Song to Celebrate Inaugural Krewe du Kanaval

In celebration of the inaugural Krewe du Kanaval, the Preservation Hall Horns, RAM and Arcade Fire’s Win Butler and Regine Chassagne have collaborated on a new theme song, “Ann Ale! (Let’s Go!).”

Taking place Feb. 6 in New Orleans, La., Krewe du Kanaval is a new Mardi Gras Krewe, mobile music event and celebration of Haiti and all the diverse cultures that have made up New Orleans and its art for hundreds of years.

“Ann Ale! (Let’s Go!)” was recorded in New Orleans last week and was written by Richard Morse, and Arcade Fire’s Win Butler and Regine Chassagne. The song features backing vocals from Butler and Chassagne, as well as traditional creole instruments and it perfectly distills the colorful, rich and celebratory nature of Mardi Gras and street music into one song.

Krewe du Kanaval will run from noon through to the late evening and will consist of a parade through the French Quarter and Treme, a free afternoon festival in Armstrong Park, and a ticketed Kanaval Ball at the iconic club One Eyed Jacks.

The Krewe is a joint effort between Preservation Hall, Win Butler and Regine Chassagne of Arcade Fire and Haitian friends. The event will raise funds to benefit the Preservation Hall Foundation and KANPE—two non-profit organizations that serve social and cultural needs in New Orleans and Haiti.

Confirmed talent for the event will Arcade Fire’s Butler and Chassagne, the world-famous Preservation Hall Jazz Band, DJ Nickodemus, DJ Cosmo Gonik, Paul Beaubrun and special guests from Haiti, including RAM.
