Bad Boys Spinoff TV Series Becomes L.A.’s Finest, Adds Jessica Alba

The much-talked-about Bad Boys TV spinoff starring actress/author Gabrielle Union finally has a name—L.A.’s Finest—and actress/entrepreneur Jessica Alba as its co-lead, per Deadline.

The pilot will focus on former DEA agent Syd Burnett (Union), the sister of Martin Lawrence’s character from Bad Boys II, as she joins the LAPD and teams up with Nancy McKenna (Alba), a detective and working mom. The police procedural drama plays on the women’s differing lifestyles and approaches to the law.

The pilot has gone through a series of names like the rumored Bad Girls and Untitled Gabrielle Union project, but with an official title, the pilot seems to be a top priority for the network.

Brandon Margolis and Brandon Sonnier serve as writers for the project with Anton Cropper directing. Bad Boys producer Jerry Bruckheimer and Doug Belgrad are executive producing the pilot alongside Union and Alba through Primary Wave Entertainment and Sony Pictures TV. Margolis, Sonnier, Jonathan Littman, KristieAnne Reed, Jeff Gaspin and Jeff Morrone will serve as executive producers, as well.

With network upfronts just around the corner, fans and TV insiders will have to wait and see if the pilot is picked up for a series order. In the meantime, check out this fun video of Union and Alba on set.
