The First Trailer for the Adaptation of Emma Donoghue’s Disturbing Room

In 2010, Irish-Canadian author Emma Donoghue both touched readers and gave them nightmares with her breakout novel Room. Room tells the story of an unnamed mother, simply referred to as Ma, who lives with her Son in a small room. As the story unfolds through the eyes of the 5 year old child, Jack, it becomes abundantly clear that room is all Jack has ever known because he and Ma are being held captive by Ma’s abuser.

The New York Times bestseller was adapted for film by Donoghue herself, and will be directed by Irish native Lenny Abrahamson, who also made What Richard Did and Frank. Ma will be played by the very versatile Brie Larson, who was last seen on-screen in a worlds lighter movie Trainwreck. Jacob Tremblay will play Jack. Joan Allen, William H. Macy, Megan Park and Sean Bridgers are also set to star.
