Patton Oswalt’s Indie-izer Turns Hollywood Movies Into Low-Budget Mopefests

This Sunday the year’s biggest award show comes to Hollywood, but the night before will belong to the Independent Spirit Awards, the Oscars’ quirky barista cousin with the perfectly mussed hair. Comedian Patton Oswalt is set to host, and in preparation he’s developed “the Indie-izer,” the only app that will make your favorite blockbuster look like it was filmed by a washing machine.

In this short promotional clip put together by Oswalt and the folks from 5-Second Films, the comic takes 2013’s biggest movies and strips away everything that made them even vaguely enjoyable until only the poorly lit, mush-mouthed core remains. Unfortunately, the Indie-izer has yet to be approved by Apple’s or any other company’s app store, but curious parties can still watch the video to see what The Lone Ranger might look like as a poignant gay relationship drama. Check it out above.
