Watch Stephen Colbert and Sturgill Simpson Debut Their Song At Waffle House

A few months ago, meta-modern country singer Sturgill Simpson and Stephen Colbert performed their song “No Shirt, No Shoes, No Knuckleheads” on The Late Show.

“Waffle House, do the right thing,” urged Colbert at the end of the performance. The former Colbert Report host wanted the duo’s song to sit alongside other official Waffle House juke box staples like “Waffle Do-Op” and “There Are Raisins In My Toast.”

Now, the yellow-signed southern staple has heeded Colbert’s order. Guests visiting any of the 1500 working Waffle Houses locations can enjoy a slice of Sturgill and Colbert with their All-Star Special.

To celebrate, the duo decided to debut the song at the very Waffle House where the Late Night host spent his “young drunkness” in.

The ensuing six minutes starts with Colbert giving an honest-to-god piggyback ride to the man who wrote one of our top 10 records of year so far and ends with the duo throwing a ridiculously weird party in the Waffle House. Watch it above and check out the original performance below.

For those unfortunate enough to never visit a Waffle House, the food is cheap, delicious and even has the Anthony Bourdain seal of approval.
