John Oliver’s latest marathon segment focuses on political fundraising, and specifically how the people we elect to Congress spend up to 2/3rds of their time trying to raise money so that they can be elected again. It’s a big old ouroboros of cash, influence and straight-up groveling, and it reminds us once again that perhaps this is not the best possible way to govern one’s country.
