Skybound is best known for The Walking Dead, which remains a powerhouse multimedia force above and beyond almost anything else in independent comics. Series antagonist Negan struck a particularly wicked chord with comic readers and TV viewers alike. The Quotable Negan, written by series creator Kirkman, compiles a book’s worth of “warped witticisms and obscene observations” from the bat-wielding psychopath—many of them focused around Negan’s favorite four-letter word (hint: it ain’t “love”). Both fans of the long-running Charlie Adlard-illustrated comic and loyal viewers of the up-and-down television saga should appreciate this off-color coffee table compendium, which also includes morbid facts about Negan and his best gal Lucille.

On the far opposite end of the tonal spectrum from zombie antics, Outpost Zero Vol. 1 and The Electric State represent some of Skybound’s first overtures at publishing for younger readers and wider audiences.

Written by Eisner Award-winner Sean Kelley McKeever, drawn by Alexandre Tefenkgi and colored by Jean-Francois Beaulieu, Outpost Zero follows protagonist Alea and her friends as they enter adulthood in the protected Outpost Zero, a small community on a frozen world inhospitable to human life. Alea’s life in Outpost Zero is complicated, though, when something in the snowy depths of “the Frost” begins to stir.

The Electric State, meanwhile, is a breathtakingly illustrated sci-fi tale about a teenage runaway and her yellow toy robot as they travel west through an American landscape littered with the ruins of gigantic battle drones. High-tech trash overflows all around the journeying duo, discarded by a society addicted to virtual reality. The Electric State comes from concept artist and painter Simon Stålenhag, the mind behind the popular Tales from the Loop and Things from the Flood.

With the holidays on the way, we’ve partnered with Skybound for a very special giveaway. Two winners will each receive a copy of The Quotable Negan, while one will receive a teen-friendly prize package containing The Electric State and the first volume of Outpost Zero. To enter the giveaway, follow @PasteBooks on Twitter, retweet the contest tweet by 5 p.m. EST on Monday, December 10th, and reply with which book(s) you’d like to receive.
