Send a Letter to Hermione: David Bowie Getting His Own Stamps

Philatelists rejoice! If you ever wanted a fantastic collection to win friends and influence your uncle, the Royal Mail has announced that they are releasing a limited edition set of David Bowie stamps to commemorate the recently departed artist.

The set comes a year after Bowie’s death and just a week after he was honored, alongside Prince, at a conference at Yale University. Strangely enough, being on a stamp has become a hallmark of importance in culture, and there is certainly no argument that Bowie deserves the honor. This is the first time the Royal Mail will honor a solo musical artist with a unique set of stamps. (For those Trumplandians out there, the Royal Mail is similar to the USPS.)

The ten stamp collection includes six iconic albums (Hunky Dory, Aladdin Sane, Heroes, Let’s Dance, Earthling, and Blackstar) along with four shots of Bowie performing in different stages of his career. The sets range from $6.00 for a set of four to $35.00 for a complete set of sheets. Each offers a slightly different design. You can even buy an envelope with a special Bowie logo on it. Runs are usually limited to editions of 7,500, so if you have a philatelist that’s also into rock or are looking to give that Bowie fan a piece of memorabilia that won’t cost you an arm and a leg you better act post haste.
