Of course Matthew McConaughey is a spokesperson for Wild Turkey. Excuse me, not a spokesperson. “Creative Director.” McConaughey’s Lincoln commercials were, uh, unforgettable, and he takes a similar, though less nonsensical, approach to his Wild Turkey campaign. This is the first of several “short films” starring the actor, who has the perfect southern drawl to pitch bourbon. In the film, he pals around with the three generations of Russells, the family of master distillers who’ve shaped Wild Turkey over the last six decades. McConaughey wears flannel, takes a nip off of patriarch Jimmy Russell’s secret stash of ancient whiskey, cracks jokes…And yeah, the whole thing makes me want to reach for a bottle of Wild Turkey. Because I’m a sucker for advertising.
