Candy Crush Is Getting a Live-Action Game Show on CBS
Photo by Joe Raedle/GettyLook, like it or not, videogames are mainstream. They make billions of dollars a year, everybody in every demographic plays them, and we’re getting videogame adaptations left, right and center. And, just to drive that point home, we have this latest bit of news.
Nothing screams “mainstream” more than a family-friendly, primetime game show on CBS, and, per THR, Lionsgate is producing a live-action Candy Crush Saga game show to air on CBS.
The series will be produced by Matt Kunitz of Wipeout and Fear Factor fame. The game will reportedly feature teams of two using “their wits and physical agility to compete on enormous interactive game boards.” Apparently the show will take elements from Kunitz’s previous hit shows and will feature a “Candy Crush Arena”, so the show probably won’t be as simple as just matching some candy on a floor-sized iPad.
