Unlike most videogame “collector’s editions,” the just-announced Civilization VI 25th Anniversary Edition might actually turn into a collector’s item.
Celebrating the strategy series’ first release in 1991 of Sid Meier’s Civilization, the Anniversary Edition will consist of just 20,000 copies worldwide, sold for $89.99 through participating retailers exclusively for PC. The edition will come with the base game, the game’s soundtrack and four post-launch downloadable expansions, as well as a commemorative coin set and a hardcover art book called Civilization Through the Years.
“The vitality of Civilization is in the new ideas that each design team brings to the game as well as the passion and feedback from an incredible community,” said Sid Meier himself in a statement. “We hope players enjoy the vibrant living world and the new features the team has created in this latest offering. I’m proud of the work they’ve done, and I hope you will enjoy playing Civilization VI as much as they’ve enjoyed making it. Here’s to the next 25 years!”
