CD Projekt Red Delays Cyberpunk 2077 to September

Thursday via Twitter, CD Projekt Red announced that their flagship title Cyberpunk 2077 would be delayed from its initial April release to Sept. 17. This comes just days after Square-Enix announced that Final Fantasy VII Remake would be delayed from March to April. No word on if FF7R’s delay has anything to do with Cyberpunk’s.

“We are currently at a stage where the game is complete and playable, but there’s still work to be done,” the tweet reads. “We want Cyberpunk 2077 to be our crowning achievement for this generation and postponing launch will give us the precious months we need to make the game perfect.” You can expect Keanu Reeves to bless your computer screen perfectly rendered come September. R. Talsorian Games, the creators behind the Cyberpunk tabletop series Cyberpunk 2077 from which is adapted, also tweeted in support of the delay, citing their desire for their friends at CD Projekt Red to be “healthy and chill.”

Cyberpunk is the developer’s follow-up to their critically lauded RPG The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The Witcher videogame series is based upon a series of novels by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski, and just received an American Netflix series back in December.
