Super Mario Battle Royale Rebrands as DMCA Takedown Battle Royale

Unsurprisingly, Nintendo’s lawyers came calling after the copyright-violating browser game Mario Royale went viral last week.

But in a clever bit of when-life-gives-you-lemons, YouTuber and indie games developer InfernoPlus has rebranded his hit game to DMCA Royale.

The name refers to DMCA takedowns, which are notices sent by copyright holders to websites to remove material that is infringing on their copyright. Accordingly, the fresh coat of paint the game received covers up the explicit Mario references, if only barely.

Now the player sprite is named Infringio, and his underappreciated brother is named Copyright. They’re the Infringio Brothers, and they trounce around a world filled with green ~~goombas~~, slimeballs and blue pipes. And don’t miss their invincibility-granting power-up with a catchy theme: the rainbow.

Infringio Royale V2.0.0 ALPHA is up. Uhhhh…. It’s not pretty but hopefully it won’t get me sued.
So yeah. Give it a few days and we should have it looking a lot better.
