Report: Marvel vs. Capcom 4 to Be Announced This Week

Games News Marvel vs. Capcom

Marvel vs. Capcom is one of the most popular fighting game series from a company known for their popular fighting game series, but since the release of the third entry in 2011, fans have been waiting on a new entry without any word from Capcom or Marvel.

Now Polygon is reporting that Marvel vs. Capcom 4 is in development and will be announced at PlayStation Experience 2016 this weekend where the Capcom Cup 2016, a Street Fighter V tournament, is taking place.

The report also says that Marvel’s side of the lineup will focus on characters present in the company’s cinematic universe (a trend comic readers are probably familiar with), with Polygon suggesting that Ant-Man and Groot will be making appearances. Since characters like Spider-Man and Ghost Rider have found their way back to Marvel over the years, that essentially means leaving out the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, along with their associated characters like Doctor Doom, and the Sentinels. Considering the Marvel vs. Capcom series developed out of X-Men vs. Street Fighter, it’ll be odd to see mutantkind excluded.

The game is reportedly set for a 2017 release. Capcom has not commented on the report.
