Trailer for Metroid: Samus Returns Demonstrates the Bounty Hunter’s Abilities
Images via NintendoThe announcement of Nintendo’s 3DS remake of Metroid II: The Return of Samus felt like an afterthought compared to the big Switch announcements of E3 2017. But with the release date getting closer, Nintendo has stepped up the marketing of Metroid: Samus Returns. The newest trailer for the game details the story, along with many of the features and abilities that players will have at their disposal as bounty hunter Samus Aran.
If you can get past the cheesy trailer voice, the video is quite comprehensive and fascinating to watch for Metroid fans. Like the 1991 Game Boy title that inspired Samus Returns, players travel to planet SR388 as the titular protagonist to terminate the remaining parasitic Metroids. Samus uses familiar tools in her arsenal, such as the Morph Ball and Grapple Beam. That’s not to say that all of her abilities are old, using new techniques like the Melee Counter, and a Scan Pulse used to find hidden paths in the environment.
If you’re willing to learn about everything the game has to offer before playing the game itself, take a look at the video above. Metroid: Samus Returns comes to the Nintendo 3DS on Sept. 15.
