Nintendo Live Comes to America This Fall

It’s an exciting time to be a Nintendo fan, as Nintendo Live 2023 comes to Seattle this September. This is the first time the event will come to America after a successful launch in Japan. The event promises live performances, tournaments, photo-ops and more.

“Fans of all ages can currently experience the unique games, characters and worlds of Nintendo on Nintendo Switch, but we want to expand that scope with a new experience,” said Nintendo of America President Doug Bowser.

“With Nintendo Live 2023, we’re giving attendees a chance to celebrate together with family, friends and the broader Nintendo community in the spirit of fun and creating long-lasting memories.”

Nintendo Live is a relatively new event that started in Japan in 2019, with a second occurring in 2022 after COVID-19 seemed to be on the wane. The last Nintendo Live included a concert with selections from Animal Crossing and Splatoon 3, so maybe Western fans will finally get a chance to see their favorite songs from the Splatoon series performed live. It’s not a press conference like E3 or their own Nintendo Direct presentations, so fans should temper their expectations accordingly.

Nintendo is trying to make 2023 a big year, starting with the opening of Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Hollywood in February. The Super Mario Bros Movie premiered last week with a huge first weekend, and the highly anticipated Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will be out on the Switch next month. The expansion of Nintendo Live outside of Japan is greatly appreciated by Western fans. Maybe in the future, we’ll finally get another in-person Pokemon Center store in the States as well.

Nintendo Live 2023 will be in Seattle sometime in September.
