Only ‘90s kids will get this move from Nintendo: Legendary videogame magazine Nintendo Power is back from the dead, but now in the form of a podcast. Nintendo of America revealed this news on their Twitter account:

While we wish that Nintendo’s social media team had spelled “debut” correctly, this is undoubtedly exciting news. Nintendo Power was a presence since its first issue in 1988, giving the tell-all of the happenings with Nintendo videogames. Nintendo of America initially published the magazine before licensing it to Future Publishing in 2007. Nintendo did not renew the agreement in 2012, leading to the magazine’s cancellation and a final issue published that December.
Nintendo Power had a grassroots and independent spiritual successor in Nintendo Force, a bi-monthly magazine by community members and figures from Destructoid, GoNintendo, IGN and other websites. But the news of an official return for Nintendo Power (even including the famous Nintendo Seal of Quality) is a welcome surprise.
Former editor-in-chief for the magazine Chris Slate hosts the podcast, and in the premiere episode, Slate interviews Eiji Aonuma and Hidemaro Fujibayashi of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Kit Ellis, co-host of the Nintendo Minute YouTube series, and Damon Baker, who has been a pointman for Nintendo’s initiative to bring indie games to their platforms.
Nintendo Power is available on iTunes and SoundCloud, with Google Play availability promised by Nintendo.
