Play Overwatch for Free Next Week and Welcome the Overwatch League’s First Pink Team

As a Thanksgiving treat, Overwatch will be free to play next week on all platforms. The free trial will begin on Tuesday, Nov. 20, at 2 p.m. ET and will end on Monday, Nov. 26, at 2:59 a.m. ET.

New players will be able to play the full game, which now includes Ashe, the 29th hero on the game’s roster, who was revealed at BlizzCon 2018 and went live just this week. Progress that players earn during this free trial will carry over, should they decide to buy the game.

That’s not all that’s going on in the world of Overwatch: In arguably even more important news, the Overwatch League now has its first pink team, the Hangzhou Spark.

The new Overwatch League team’s look was revealed Wednesday via Twitter. “We are Hangzhou Spark!” reads the tweet, which also includes a video showcasing the team’s logo and skin colors—the skins are bubblegum pink and sky blue, but we all know the important color is the bubblegum pink. It is bright and beautiful.

Many fans, especially the Overwatch League’s female fans, have wanted to see a team in the league don pink. Following the announcement, the Overwatch League corners of Twitter practically exploded in excitement. The team has already accrued over 17 thousand followers on Twitter.

An official press release from Bilibili Esports states:

Pink is the primary color in the logo and the main color of the brand, with white and blue as secondary colors. The vibrant color combination represents the fast-growing city of Hangzhou, which is in the process of transforming into an international destination. The logo depicts a spark element shooting from a hand. The name—Spark—symbolizes extreme speed and power, and also represents the electric nature and creative spark of the Bilibili brand.

The Hangzhou Spark are just one of eight new teams joining the ranks of the massively popular e-sports league in 2019. Several teams—such as the Atlanta Reign, Paris Eternal, Gangzhou Charge and Chengdu Hunters—have also been revealed, but there are still more waiting to officially become part of the league.

The second season of the Overwatch League will begin in February 2019.
