Feel Nostalgic With This Pokémon Gold and Silver Virtual Console Launch Trailer

Arguably the best generation of Pokemon games is returning to Nintendo handhelds, with the Virtual Console versions of Pokemon Gold and Silver Versions. Nintendo U.K. released the trailer on their YouTube channel, letting fans enjoy those familiar Game Boy Color sounds and sights.

Gold and Silver made up the second generation of Pokemon games, and added a plethora of new features that are now series standards—an internal clock was added to the game, allowing for in-game events and other quirks (i.e. Pokemon that appear or evolve at certain times of day), roaming Legendary Pokemon were introduced, and Pokemon were now able to breed through a system at the game’s daycares.

The game lets you choose between three starter Pokemon: Chikorita, Cyndaquil and Totodile. The Johto region was the main setting for the game, but the game basically doubled in size, as players could also explore the Kanto region from the original Pokemon games. While the previous Virtual Console releases of Pokemon Red and Blue Versions also included Yellow Version, it doesn’t look like we’ll be seeing Gold and Silver’s counterpart Crystal Version on the 3DS any time soon.

Pokemon Gold and Silver Versions will be downloadable for the 3DS starting Sept. 22. Watch the launch trailer above.
