Yacht Club Games Reveals Multiplayer Expansion Shovel Knight Showdown

Next year, Shovel Knight will receive a local multiplayer battle expansion titled Shovel Knight Showdown.

Showdown will be a series of new modes that will let four players play as one of many Shovel Knight characters to duel it out. You can fight with your friends in endless clashes, or control a character and play Story Mode, which is “a multistage journey customized for each character.”

The multiplayer function will be local only. Shovel Knight Showdown will be a free update to all existing versions of Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Max, Linux, Amazon FireTV and Nintendo Wii U. If you don’t have the base game, you are able to buy Showdown as a standalone product for $9.99.

Yacht Club’s announcement lists the features that will be included in Shovel Knight Showdown, among them being a full-featured practice mode, new songs and a Gem Clash mode. Find out more here and get a first look at Shovel Knight Showdown’s gameplay below.
