Respawn Entertainment, Makers of Titanfall, to Create a New Star Wars Game

Games News Star Wars

Titanfall creators Respawn Entertainment are taking a trip to a galaxy far, far away. EA announced today that they’re working with Respawn on an all-new, third-person action/adventure game set in the Star Wars universe.

Acclaimed multiplayer mech shooter Titanfall was Respawn’s very first game, and the studio recently teased a sequel. Now, Respawn, founded by former Infinity Ward developers (and Call of Duty creators) Jason West and Vince Zampella, has the opportunity to make an even bigger name for themselves.

“Over the past few years, I’ve had the opportunity to spend a lot of time with Vince Zampella and his group,” said Patrick Söderlund, VP of EA Studios. “Their obsession with making games that feel amazing has helped make Titanfall one of the most successful new game launches of this generation. And now, with a new team led by Stig Asmussen, we get to see what they can do when you combine that great attention to gameplay with the power of Star Wars.”

“The entire company erupted in cheers when it was announced that this would be our next endeavor,” Asmussen wrote in a blog post. “But it’s not all fun and games—we promise to pay respect to the Star Wars legacy at all times, a fact that will be constantly reinforced and honored as a central game design tenet.”

Details on the game are understandably scarce at this point, but it’s difficult to disagree with Söderlund when he points out that “There’s never been a better time to be a Star Wars fan.” May the Fourth be with us all.
