Valve Making All Steam Games Compatible with Xbox Controllers

Steam’s newest client update will allow players to use an Xbox One or Xbox 360 controller to play any game on the PC platform, even if the games lack native controller support.

Steam will assign recommended control-mapping schemes for said controllers, but players will also be able edit how their personal controls are mapped for any game, according to the patch notes.

Similar functionality was added by Steam last year for Playstation 4 controllers, and this most recent update adds further compatibility with some third-party PS4 controllers and fight sticks.

This update is currently only available in beta, and no word has been given as to when non-beta users will be granted access to it. However, you can choose to take part in beta updates by choosing the ‘beta participation’ option in the settings menu in Steam’s client.
