The Missing Is the Next Project from Deadly Premonition Creator Swery65
Image via Arc System Works/YouTubeHidetaka Suehiro, better known to videogame fans as Swery65, finally has a new game on the way with the announcement of his new title, The Missing. The game will be the first developed in-house by Swery’s new studio, White Owls, and will be published by Dragon Ball FighterZ developer Arc System Works.
No details about the game were revealed in Friday’s announcement, but even the specific brand of mystery Swery puts forth is enough to sustain and humorously perplex any fan. “The title, The Missing, has many meanings. A missing person, someone who’s lost, or even something lost,” said Swery. “Maybe it’s your loved one, or a place you belong. Do you ever feel lost in your everyday life? The Missing is for someone like you.”
Swery rose to prominence after the release of the cult classic Deadly Premonition in 2010. He also developed the lesser-known D4: Dark Dreams Don’t Die, which was one of the better titles to utilized the fickle Xbox Kinect controls, before leaving his former studio, Access Games, due to health complications.
With the announcement of The Missing, Swery now has two titles in the works. Last year, he attempted to garner crowdfunding for another quirky title, The Good Life, through Fig. That campaign fell short of its goal, but he recently announced that he reevaluated his approach and will be relaunching it on Kickstarter in March.
The Missing is scheduled for a 2018 release. Check out the announcement, complete with Swery and his monkeys, below.
