Trogdor!! The Board Game Burninates Kickstarter Goal

Family game night has just gotten … well, a bit more ridiculous. In a little over a week, the Kickstarter for Trogdor!! The Board Game, a brand new game from the makers of Homestar Runner The Brothers Chaps, has raised more than $750,000. That’s more than 1,000 percent over their original goal.

Backers quickly showed interest in the board game as the Kickstarter hit its goal of $75,000 merely three hours after launching. With more than 12,000 backers, the campaign has already reached its fifth stretch goal. There are 21 days left in the campaign and if the Kickstarter reaches 15,000 backers, the game will have met its final stretch goal, which includes adding alternate Trogdor Meeples based on designs by Coach Z, Strong Mad, Strong Sad and Strong Bad to the game.

For those unfamiliar with Homestar Runner or its various spinoffs, it is a popular web series created by The Brothers Chaps back in 2003. The series features an oddball cast of characters like Homestar Runner and Strong Bad. Trogdor was a creation of the character Strong Bad during the 58th episode of the Strong Bad Email show, becoming a character that fans gravitated towards and inspiring several popular memes.

The Kickstarter for Trogdor!! The Board Game began on Aug. 17, with the creator describing it as “a co-op puzzle, area control game where two to six players work together to help a beefy-armed dragon completely decimate a kingdom using unique powers and items, all while avoiding knights and archers bent on stopping you.” The official description reads:

For centuries, the legendary wingaling dragon Trogdor the Burninator has terrorized the peasant kingdom of Peasantry with his scorching flames and greased-up beefy arm. Now, he has descended from the mountains once again and will not stop until he burninates the entire countryside and all those unfortunate enough to get in his way!
