Shayla Wiggins, a 19-year-old resident of Riverton, Wyo., was playing Pokémon Go this morning when she discovered a dead body floating in a river by her house, local news outlet County 10 reports.
“I was trying to get a Pokemon from a natural water resource,” Wiggins told County 10. “I was walking towards the bridge along the shore when I saw something in the water. I had to take a second look and I realized it was a body.”
“It was pretty shocking,” she continued. “I didn’t really know what to do at first. But I called 911 right away and [the Riverton police] came really quickly.” Wiggins was understandably shaken by the incident.
The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office revealed the following: “The death appears to be accidental in nature and possibly that of a drowning. There is no evidence at this time that would indicate foul play. Evidence located at the scene has led investigators to believe the man went into the water at the location he was found.” Authorities also stated that the investigation is ongoing, and further details will be released after an autopsy.
