Andrew Garfield to Star In Modern-Day Noir from It Follows Director

Movies News

After his starring role in drama 99 Homes, Andrew Garfield is going a little darker for It Follows director David Robert Mitchell’s newest project, Under the Silver Lake.

The film, which will also be written by Mitchell, has been described as a modern-day noir crime thriller set in Los Angeles. As of now, major details about the film are being kept under wraps, but it wouldn’t be surprising if Garfield’s role didn’t center him as the hero. Although the actor has perfected the genuine, sensitive, and sympathetic protagonist, his boyish charm could easily lend itself to drumming up a startling twisted bad guy.

Production on the movie is set to start at the end of summer, with Chris Bender, Jake Weiner and Adele Romanski producing. Michael De Luca will also serve as a producer under his Michael De Luca Productions banner.

It was also announced today that Garfield is in final talks to join the cast of Andy Serkis’ Breathe, a film based on the real-life story of “a handsome, brilliant and adventurous man whose life takes a dramatic turn when polio leaves him paralyzed,” according to Deadline. The film, which was written by Gladiator’s William Nicholson, sees Robin (Garfield), along with his wife, spend their days traveling around the globe, using their humor and courage to help transform the lives of others.

You can catch Garfield next in Mel Gibson’s war drama Hacksaw Ridge and Martin Scorsese’s period drama Silence.
