Sandra Bullock Faces the Apocalypse in Netflix’s Bird Box Trailer

Sandra Bullock faces the apocalypse in the trailer for the Netflix film Bird Box, based on the 2014 debut novel by The High Strung frontman Josh Malerman.

When a mysterious force decimates the world’s population, all that’s certain is that if you see it, you take your own life. Malorie (Bullock) must face the unknown and take a perilous, blindfolded two-day journey with her children to the only place that offers the hope of sanctuary. Bullock’s Ocean’s 8 co-conspirator Sarah Paulson plays her sister in the film, which also features an all-star cast including Trevante Rhodes, Jacki Weaver, Rosa Salazar, Danielle Macdonald, Lil Rel Howery, Tom Hollander, Colson Baker, BD Wong and John Malkovich.

Fans of A Quiet Place from earlier this year will likely be drawn to the unsettling Bird Box trailer, which draws tension from its characters’ inability to see in the same way that John Krasinski’s horror hit used the inability to speak.

Bird Box comes from Oscar- and Emmy-winning The Night Manager director Susanne Bier and Arrival screenwriter Eric Heisserer, and is produced by Dylan Clark, Chris Morgan and Clayton Townsend.

Bird Box makes its world premiere at this year’s AFI Fest in Los Angeles next month before it arrives on Netflix and in select theaters on Dec. 21.
