Christoph Waltz Is Reprising His Super Villain Role in Bond 25

It seems like Bond 25 is just on the horizon, and now, Christoph Waltz has confirmed he will reprise his role in the forthcoming film, per Variety.

Waltz has portrayed super-villain Blofeld since Spectre, although the character’s actions are hinted to have orchestrated various events since Casino Royale. The role has previously been played by Donald Pleasance, Max von Sydow and Telly Savalas in previous James Bond films.

Daniel Craig will be playing Bond again, alongside recurring actors Ralph Fiennes, Lea Seydoux, Ben Whishaw and Naomie Harris. Other co-stars include Rami Malek, Ana de Armas, Lashana Lynch, David Dencik, Billy Magnussen, Dali Benssalah, Jeffrey Wright and Rory Kinnear.

The film is currently being shot in London after being put through the production ringer. In June, an explosion on set left a crew member injured, and prior to that, Craig injured his ankle on-set in Jamaica. The film also has undergone multiple directors. Danny Boyle left the project, and currently Cary Fukanaga is directing the film. The film also got a rewrite by veteran 007 writers and Fleabag’s Phoebe Waller-Bridge. Despite many backward steps in production, the film is set to premiere April 8, 2020.

Waltz has most recently starred in Robert Rodriguez’s Alita: Battle Angel, as well as his own directorial debut Georgetown. He will also star in the forthcoming Wes Anderson film The French Dispatch, as well as Woody Allen’s forthcoming project.
