Steven Soderbergh and Channing Tatum Are Teaming up for Another Magic Mike

It’s been six devastating years since we were last gifted with a Magic Mike movie. Thankfully, Steven Soderbergh, who directed the OG Magic Mike, is stepping up as the hero we all need and partnering with Channing Tatum once again for Magic Mike’s Last Dance. This third film will drop exclusively on HBO Max, and is produced by Gregory Jacobs, who directed Magic Mike XXL, as well as the film’s writer, Reid Carolin.

Tatum confirmed the rumors via Twitter, and made it known in a statement that he is just as enthusiastic as we are about Mike’s next chapter.

“There are no words for how excited I am to blow the doors off of the world of Magic Mike with Steven, Greg, Reid, and the amazing people at HBO Max. The stripperverse will never be the same.” Soderbergh added in a statement to Variety. “As soon as I saw what Channing, Reid, and the Magic Mike choreographic team did with the live show, I said we have to make another movie. Mike Lane’s dream of connecting people through dance must be realized.”

And as for plot details, those are still under wraps for the time being. The title does have a bit of an ominous ring to it, though. Why exactly is this Mike’s last dance? Is he simply retiring, or is the stripperverse taking an unexpected dark turn? Stay tuned.
