Watch the Over-the-Top Trailer For Disaster Film Geostorm

Ahhh, Roland Emmerich—often imitated, rarely duplicated. He made a name for himself by leveling cities through destructive acts of nature, which has resulted in plenty of knock-off brands, attempting their own shots at destructive glory. Well, here’s the next film in that proud tradition. Following in the footsteps of Dwayne Johnson punching the shit out of some storms in San Andreas, Dean Devlin’s Geostorm looks to up the ante by enlisting none other than Gerard Butler to punch the shit out of some even bigger storms.

In a press release, Geostorm’s plot was given in full detail, and it’s too nuts to even attempt to summarize:

After an unprecedented series of natural disasters threatened the planet, the world’s leaders came together to create an intricate network of satellites to control the global climate and keep everyone safe. But now, something has gone wrong—the system built to protect the Earth is attacking it, and it’s a race against the clock to uncover the real threat before a worldwide geostorm wipes out everything … and everyone along with it.

Basically, Ed Harris, Butler, Jim Sturgess and Andy Garcia are all involved in an attempt to play God and things go really, really wrong. It looks absolutely ridiculous, and not necessarily in a good way. And what is Ed Harris even doing in this movie? Does he have nothing better to do?
