Jennifer Lopez eats the rich in the first trailer for Lorene Scafaria’s ensemble drama Hustlers.
Well, sort of. The trailer finds Lopez in the shoes of a jaded former strip club employee banding together with other dancers—the first-billed Constance Wu, Lili Reinhart and Keke Palmer—to scam, outsmart and bleed their Wall Street clients dry: that is, wine and dine them until they hand over their black Amex cards or, well, drop dead.
Taken under Lopez’s wing, Wu’s character seems to be the focal point and moral center of the film. But exactly how moral, we don’t know: Champagne gets popped, hundred-dollar bills descend from the heavens, suited businessmen collapse through glass tables and, unsurprisingly, things quickly spiral out of control.
The film is inspired by Jessica Pressler’s New York magazine feature and “modern Robin Hood story” about a group of former strip club employees manipulating money out of their clients.
Rounding out the rest of the cast are Julia Stiles, Mercedes Ruehl, and musicians Lizzo and Cardi B in their first film roles, the latter of whom’s hit “Money” also soundtracks the trailer.
The film will arrive in North American theaters on Sept. 13, and you can check out the trailer below.
