Watch Ex-Disney Star Ross Lynch Play a Convincing Jeffrey Dahmer in First My Friend Dahmer Teaser

It seems we have a rising star in our midst; the boy who played a singing surfer in a Disney film has surprised everyone with his new, sinister project. The first teaser trailer for the much-anticipated My Friend Dahmer has been released, giving us the first look at the blond-haired, pretty-faced Lynch portraying the infamous serial killer as an alcoholic teenager in high school.

The film is based on the book of the same name by Dahmer’s high school friend, John “Derf” Beckderf, which chronicles his experience with the murderer before he garnered his macabre reputation. Donning glasses and Dahmer’s classically ‘70s haircut, Lynch appears on camera with a dead-eyed stare and slumped walk, giving an eerily convincing performance. Former Nickelodeon star Alex Wolff plays a teenage Derf, a boy who invites a meek and socially awkward Dahmer into his friend circle.

If Lynch’s resemblance to the killer isn’t enough to give you an uneasy feeling in your gut, the movie was filmed on location at Dahmer’s childhood home in Bath, Ohio, giving it an air of authenticity.

My Friend Dahmer also stars Anne Heche as Dahmer’s mother, Dallas Roberts as his well-meaning father and Vincent Kartheiser as a jogger he obsesses over. The film is expected to be released before the end of the year. Watch the trailer above.
