Sony Casts Miles Morales, Mystery Villain for 2018’s Animated Spider-Man Film

In case you haven’t noticed, Sony is about to throw a ton of Spider-Man at us in the next few years. Whether it’s via their deal with Disney to share the MCU Spider-Man or a Spider-Man franchise that probably won’t even include the webslinger, things might get a little confusing. Well, strap the hell in, because the studio is still prepping that other (animated) big-screen Spidey story starring Miles Morales, and it looks like they’re finally getting their voice cast in line.

Shameik Moore (The Get Down, Dope) will be the one to step into Peter Parker’s shoes as the young Miles Morales, and Liev Schreiber will voice the as-yet-unnamed villain. 21 Jump Street and current Star Wars directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller are executive-producing the project, with Lord having written the script. You can read more about the production and Morales’ origins in our January write-up on the announcement of the film’s release date.

Keep an eye on Paste for more news surrounding the film in the coming year. Moore’s take on Spider-Man is scheduled to swing into theaters on Dec. 21, 2018.
