In the wake of Anton Yelchin’s death, Paramount is paying courtesy to the family and friends of the 27-year-old actor by foregoing a Star Trek Beyond cast Q&A at the Cannes Lions advertising exhibition slated for Wednesday, according to Deadline.
Yelchin has played Chekov in J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek films, and will do so again posthumously in Justin Lin’s Star Trek Beyond.
Paramount released this statement: “All of us are deeply saddened by the loss of our friend Anton Yelchin. Out of respect, we are withdrawing our participation in the previously announced Star Trek Beyond event at Cannes Lions this week.”
Yelchin died on Sunday in a freak auto accident.
