The Lobster premiered last year at Cannes Film Festival to tremendously positive reviews. Now, finally, it’s set for an American theatrical release.
A24, the distributor behind The Witch (which we loved), has picked up Yorgos Lanthimos’ romantic dark comedy and will release it on May 13. The Lobster stars Colin Farrell as an architect who, after his wife leaves him, checks into a hotel that also serves as a dating service. The catch: if he hasn’t found love in 45 days, he’ll be turned into an animal of his choosing…hence the film’s title. Rachel Weisz, John C. Reilly, and Leá Seydoux also star…as does a dog, as the brother of Farrell’s character.
