Chance the Rapper Somehow Filmed an Entire Movie This Summer

Music News Chance the Rapper

Chance the Rapper has always been one for artistic experimentation, and now he’s ventured into a whole new realm: acting. He’s due to star in the forthcoming film Slice, directed by Austin Vesely, who’s also the guy behind Chance’s acclaimed music videos “Sunday Candy” and “Angels.”

In a 2015 interview, Vesely told RedEye Chicago that the film takes place in a world with “supernatural elements that people accept as reality.” That explains why Chance plays a werewolf. His character is also an ex-Chinese food delivery boy who’s framed for the murders of pizza delivery boys. Vesely noted that the role was tailored to Chance’s “voice and his humor.”

Chance shot the whole thing this summer, and just now teased it for us:

This summer Chance made talk show appearances, wrote and performed a tribute song for Muhammad Ali, was featured on many other artists’ tracks, and began his Magnificent Coloring World Tour. How did he find the time to do all this?

Whatever, Chano.

The film will be released in the second half of 2017 via A24, the company behind recent hits like Moonlight and American Honey. It’s sure to be weird and delightful; don’t miss it.
