Chastity Belt Make a Comeback with “It’s Obvious” Video

Seattle rockers Chastity Belt stepped back into the spotlight Tuesday, sharing the video for “It’s Obvious,” a dreamy standout off their acclaimed third album I Used to Spend So Much Time Alone, released via Hardly Art last summer.

Chastity Belt—comprising Julia Shapiro, Gretchen Grimm, Lydia Lund and Annie Truscott—recently cut their U.S. tour short, citing “health concerns” and a need for self-care, so the band’s reemergence is a welcome sight indeed.

In light of that April tour cancellation, the “It’s Obvious” video almost reads as a summation of what Chastity Belt have been up to in the interim: The Claire Buss-directed clip opens on four women engaging in various, everyday acts of self-care, from stretching and painting their nails to texting friends and drinking a glass of water. Each woman’s individuality is emphasized through the video’s use of color, but eventually, they come together to make what the video description refers to as “the smoothie of your wildest dreams.”

Alongside their new music video, Chastity Belt have launched their first-ever official band website, created by Caitlin Payne, and according to a press release, we can expect more from the quartet in the near future, so stay tuned.

In the meantime, watch the “It’s Obvious” video below and check out Chastity Belt’s new website right here.
