Dan Zlotnick Releases New Single, "Room to Spare"

You know that warm and cozy feeling that comes around at dusk in the middle of autumn? Maybe you’ve had a long eventful day, and the mundane stresses of life are weighing down on your mind. Yet despite it all, you’re safe at home on your couch, drinking tea with the one you love, surrounded by scented flickering candles. You take a deep breath, and focus on how grateful you are for moments like these. That’s the exact feeling evoked by Hudson Valley acoustic folk/rock singer/songwriter Dan Zlotnick’s new single, “Room to Spare.”

The tune is earnest and raw, featuring Zlotnick’s jubilant-sounding guitar plucking juxtaposed with his deep, twangy vocals. The accompanying lyric video features artwork by Shane Segreti and Zlotnick himself. The lonesome desk/chair gives off almost an eerie sort of vibe, yet it’s somehow comforting at the same time. Lyrics like “Week by week and month by month / we’ll pay the bills I swear / We’ll tiptoe between the ends of our means / and find that there’s room to spare” reflect this contrasting mood of worry and hope, against the simple beauty that is love.

You can catch Zlotnick on tour this fall, opening for “Americana’s favorite father” Jim Avett on select dates. Watch the lyric video for “Room to Spare” below and find Zlotnick’s tour dates further down. His new single is now available on all streaming platforms.
