Disclosure and Sam Smith Release New Collaboration

The boys are back.

“Latch” by Disclosure, featuring Sam Smith, is the textbook definition of a sleeper hit. The single was first released in the UK in October 2012 (alongside its notoriously sensual music video), but didn’t reach the states until February of 2014. And it wasn’t until August of 2014 that the song peaked as #7 on the billboard’s top 100 list. This burst in popularity propelled both Disclosure’s and Smith’s budding careers, respectively. The two parties ventured on in their musical success independent from one another: Disclosure releasing a album in 2013, Settle, which topped the UK album charts, and Smith has immense international success from his 2014 album In The Lonely Hour, nabbing four awards, including Best New Artist, at the 2015 Grammys.

Despite their booming, separate careers, it would appear that Smith and Disclosure have not forgotten that it was the power of their collaboration that got them to where they are today. They have teamed up again for a new single, “Omen,” which was released as a video on Monday. The slow-burning, inevitable club hit will be on Disclosure’s upcoming album Caracal, out Sept. 25. The video, which takes place in a industrial-looking dance club, is the second installment of the four-part short film for Caracal, directed by Ryan Hope, which tells the story of Mariela, a tough rebel woman in a futuristic but troubled, dsytopian world. You can watch the first part of the film, which is paired with Disclosure’s “Holding On” (featuring Gregory Parker), below:
