Members of Pearl Jam (Eddie Vedder, Mike McCready), Red Hot Chili Peppers (Chad Smith) and Dave Matthews Band (Stefan Lessard) teamed up with Will Ferrell and Brandi Carlile to cover Depeche Mode’s “Personal Jesus.”

The performance took place on Monday in Seattle at “One Classy Night,” a benefit show that was raising money for Cancer for College, a charity that works to provide scholarships for cancer survivors.

Will Ferrell and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Smith have previous history performing together, as they were both on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon a few years ago. People often say the two look alike, so Fallon got them to wear matching outfits and have a drum-off, and the video quickly went viral.

Though Pearl Jam’s McCready was on the bill, Vedder’s appearance was a surprise, so Ferrell introduced Vedder as a “local, homegrown kid” and says “we’ve got someone else wants to try out for this band.” When Vedder walks onstage, the crowd goes wild and Ferrell later reemerges with his go-to instrument, the cowbell.
