Entrance – Honeymoon EP

Entrance, AKA Guy Blakeslee (formerly of The Convocation of…), plays acoustic blues with a raw, rhythmic style born of the East Coast anti-folk movement. Entrance’s yelping vocals are barely intelligible, the double-tracked harmonies sound like they’re pinning the dials of an old acoustic four-track and the playing is sloppy, but sloppy in that live, by-the-seat-of-your-pants way that makes a great performer. Despite the production and vocal limitations, the music on this EP grabs you in a manic embrace that won’t let go. Entrance also drops in a couple sharp finger-picked tunes in an inventive open tuning that puts the icing on this slightly crumbly piece of cake.
