Father John Misty Is SNL‘s Next Musical Guest

Paste Quarterly cover boy and occasional recording artist Father John Misty is headed to 30 Rock next weekend. The artist legally known as Josh Tillman will be SNL’s musical guest when the show returns on March 4, with Oscar winner Octavia Spencer set to host the episode.

It’s also been announced that Lorde will make her solo SNL performance debut on March 11’s Scarlett Johansson-hosted episode of the long-running, Trump-infuriating sketch comedy show. Tillman and Spencer will be making their first SNL appearances, while Johansson will join the five-timers club with her latest hosting stint.

Tillman has a whole lot going on right now—his wildly anticipated third album Pure Comedy is due out on April 7, and he’s already shared a handful of tunes from the new record, including the title track, “Two Wildly Different Perspectives” and “Ballad of the Dying Man.” We can only hope he makes his way into a sketch or two.

SNL, produced in association with Broadway Video, airs Saturday nights (duh) at 11:30 p.m. EST on NBC. Listen to Paste Cloud audio from Father John Misty below, check out SNL’s announcement tweet beneath that, and feast your eyes on FJM’s Paste Quarterly cover here.
